Kris Betts is a reporter and anchor at KVUE in Austin, Texas.
Kris has Texas deep in her blood and said she knew she wanted to be in the news since, “Well, forever.” Her parents can attest to that with videos of a young Kris “reporting live” from the Twin Towers in New York City at just 9-years-old.
Kris is a proud graduate of the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. She also attended Baylor University. She joined the KVUE News team after spending time at KETK and Fox 41 in East Texas.
We know Kris is a proud fan of the Longhorns, but she also has an allegiance to another professional football team. Sorry Cowboys fans, Kris is a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. She’s also an avid reader and a fan of sailing and MMA.
Another one of her passions is the sweet science: Boxing. She was a competitive boxer and at one point helped train the Baylor football team offensive line!
Kris's passion is story telling. She won an AP Award for her coverage of the 2015 October floods as well as the Any Baby Can Community Award for her work helping a family get their handicap van back from a body shop after nearly a year without any repairs.
