Juan Rodriguez is a reporter at KVUE in Austin, Texas.
Born in the city of Cotija de la Paz, Michoacán, México, Juan developed the hunger for telling stories at a young age.
His family's story of migrating to the United States has given him the passion and drive to become a journalist.
The city of Port Arthur, Texas, has been his first home since he was 18 months old.
Juan is a proud Memorial High School Titan honors graduate who started off his higher education by achieving an Associate's of Arts in Business Administration from Lamar State College in Port Arthur.
But, it didn’t stop there. Juan continued his broadcast journalism studies at Lamar University in the city of Beaumont, Texas.
In December of 2015, on his father’s birthday, Juan gifted him his Bachelor of Arts degree from Lamar University in Broadcast Communication with a minor in Modern Languages.
Because of his father’s life stories and experiences, Juan has fostered a passion for picking up a camera, documenting everything that goes on to tell stories that otherwise would be unheard.
In August of 2017, his biggest learning experience as a journalist happened when Hurricane Harvey took on southeast Texas.
As the waters rose flooding thousands of home, so did his community's spirit.
At the time, Juan was reporting for KBMT 12News in Beaumont and despite losing his home to intense flooding, his duty to keep the community informed continued.
Aside from being a news junkie, Juan is an avid gym goer who enjoys a little sweat and lifting weights.
Juan is the oldest sibling to three younger sisters and a son to two very supportive parents.
He says he owes every single one of his accomplishments to his friends, family and the community who has watched him grow.
