Texas Morning

Caldwell County Color

I am so glad for many reasons that El Nino is back. We have missed out on so many things through the last two years of the drought. From not being able to launch a boat at the lakes to missing our wildflowers. I have been driving through the Texas country side from Smithvillle to Lockhart and I can not remember ever seeing the Texas wildflowers so stunning. With all the crazy stuff going on in the world my piece of mind comes while driving down a Texas farm to market road taking in all the colors of Texas with Willie in the ipod. These pictures were taken on FM 713 between Hwy 20 and FM 86 in Caldwell county north of Lockhart. This is a special place in Texas along the Texas Independance trail on Hwy 20. I have been building a home on Plum Creek off of Hwy 20 and the Oak trees have grape vines over 12'' in diameter. when I am there under the canopy alone I know these trees have seen a lot of history and maybe even given shade to the ones that died for the great Republic of Texas. Lockhart to La Grange, Bastrop to Delhi are some of the best roads to cruise on the weekend this time of the year.
