Lightning over Austin(2)

Summer storms over Austin Skyline

So Ive played around with Cameras for years, but never really tried to shoot lightning until the the night of July 9th when the storm came in.I had just learned to shoot fireworks on the 4th ( I may post a few of those latter)and kinda figured out the right combination of exposure and lens, so i was intrigued with the challenge of trying to shoot lightning. With a little research, tripod, cable release and about 40 different photos from my front porch in South Austin, i was lucky enough to have the shutter open when i captured "Lightning over Austin (1)"at exactly 8:02 PM.Then tonight(July 15) I again set up on my front porch as the storm came rolling in and was able to catch "Lightning over Austin(2) at 9:04 PM (after several dozen shots).I used an App for my I-phone called "Lightning Finder" and " Storm Spotter" to help predict when the conditions would be best to increase my chances for some good shots.I still have a lot to learn, but I'm having fun with it. Hope you enjoy
