I am on assignment in Connecticut and having to "ride" out the storm. I am about 25 miles south of Hartford and 25 miles north of Long Island Sound. It has been raining for about 14 hours so far. The winds have not been as bad as I have seen them in Texas storms. They have gusted 45-50 mph. I have only seen 2 trees down. I do see emergency vehicles going by from time to time. The AT&T Wireless team is based in my hotel and are waiting to hear which cell towers they will need to repair in the area. I have also seen a number of tree trimming trucks from out of state in the last 24 hours.
This is a part of a tree that is down behind my hotel in Connecticut due to Hurricane Irene. I am in Meriden, CT. Winds have been gusting to about 40-50 mph so far at 9:30 am ET.
