I went to Lake Georgetown on Aug 25, 2011 for a walk in the Russell Park area. I was mortified at how low the lake is, it is down 21 feet!
The beach area has been closed. In fact, it is so low at the beach there is no water covering the area. I encountered endless areas of exposed rock cliffs that were once many feet underwater and signs all over the park that showed the wildlife is suffering deeply. I could see that the deer are keeping their herds closer to the waters edge and dry bones from those who have perished were evident everywhere. Another disheartening thing to see was all the garbage scattered across the barren rocky land from careless folks who litter our lakes while boating.
It is heartbreaking to see how this extreme weather is effecting everything and everybody. We keep praying for rain and hoping this will end soon.
