Tonight the shower of snow descended on our neighborhood and so I (Elena Villalon - an AustinISD student who was ecstatic to be missing school!) decided to make a snowman. Of course there was not too much snow to make a snowman, so, I was stuck with making a small, fun-sized midget snowman... no offense to short people - I'm short too! I wanted to make a snowman outside so everybody walking by (we live on a corner) would be able to enjoy a little winter spirit! My goal is to share a little bit of Winter spirit with everybody in Austin! I wanted to make a bigger snowman, but could not... even if you think that you have too much snow, you underestimate the power snow has to compress and compact itself. I borrowed some snow from my "plant island" you see in the background and much from my driveway and my neighbors driveway. I decided to make the snow woman ready for the beach because I wanted to make the sculpture ironic, because Texas and Austin has crazy, unpredictable weather, and thats why I love it! enjoy the photo and happy snow day!!
