In the wake of Tropical Storm Hermine, Onion Creek overflowed its banks. Water rose in Onion Creek Park, near the intersection of William Cannon Dr and Pleasant Valley Rd. Nearby neighborhood of Onion Creek was untouched. Houses that had flooded in the past have now been removed, and drainage has been improved. The rising waters failed to even threaten the remaining houses, many of which are slated for demolition in the next few years. Houses that are not threatened by flooding, nor have ever flooded, will be condemned and demolished to permit the construction of a recreational area.
