HOUSTON – Emergency crews have rescued two men who were reported missing in the Addicks Reservoir Monday in west Houston.
The drama started around 6 p.m. near Groeschke Street and Highway 6, south of Bear Creek Park.
The two men were hanging onto a tree in the rain-swollen Addicks reservoir. One of the men was able to contact police from his cell phone.
A Houston police helicopter and a couple of Houston Fire Department boats were at the scene searching for the men, but it took awhile to find them.
They were finally spotted around 7:30 p.m.
Police blocked the southbound lanes of Highway 6 as they worked to reach the men.
They rescued them about an hour later.
