AUSTIN -- A man pled guilty this week to several hotel burglaries, some of which took place during this year's South by Southwest conference and music festival.

Austin police say Michael Allen Rush, 28, pled guilty to five counts of burglary of a habitation and one count of possession of stolen property.

Police responded to a burglary report on March 13 at Austin's Fairfield Inn Suites hotel. The thief stole several iPads and iPhones. Police were able to track one of the stolen items because its GPS was activated.

That investigation led police to an apartment on Research Blvd. full of stolen items taken from several different hotels in February and March 2012. Austin police say the apartment belonged to 37-year-old Nathan Winston.

Most of the stolen items were returned to their owners, some of whom were visiting from out of state.

Winston and Ashley Cruickshank, 28, have also received charges relating to these crimes.

Rush still faces multiple burglary of a habitation charges in Williamson County and multiple aggravated burglary charges in Sevier County, Tennessee.

Police remind everyone to report all stolen goods, no matter how small. They say every report could lead to the recovery of other stolen items.
