AUSTIN -- A man has been arrested and charged with robbing five banks in five months.
Austin police said Wednesday they have arrested Randall Reed for the crimes. Police say he robbed five banks in Austin, San Marcos and San Antonio. He is also accused of robbing a customer service center inside a Randall's grocery store in South Austin.
In each incident Reed used a weapon, police say. In his final robbery in July, he reportedly restrained the bank tellers. Thanks to evidence and citizen tips, law enforcement officials were able to identify Reed as their suspect.
Police say he is responsible for robbing the following banks on Feb. 28, May 3, May 31, July 3 and July 26:
- Randall’s at 2025 W. Ben White Blvd.
- Prosperity Bank at 12730 Research Blvd.
- Northstar Bank at 1515 W. 35th St.
- Benchmark Bank at 1508 W. 35th St
- Broadway Bank in San Antonio
