AUSTIN -- Gabrielle Nestande's defense lawyer filed a motion to suppress evidence Friday afternoon. The former legislative aide is charged with the hit-and-run death of Courtney Griffin.

The Travis County District Attorney's Office received new information in the case related to witnesses from the night of the crash.

Nestande's lawyer also asked the state to hand over Austin police officers' cellphone numbers. The judge denied that request.

The victim's father, Bart Griffin, is working to push legislation this session that would increase the penalties for hit and run drivers.
