TRAVIS COUNTY -- A 22-year-old man has died after being involved in a rollover accident.

APD says the incident happened at 8600 East Parmer Lane near U.S. 290 and SH 130 Monday morning around 7:30.

Senior Officer Vanessa Bremner says a man driving a black GMC Yukon was heading east on Parmer when he tried to pass slower cars in the grassy median. He lost control of his vehicle, causing it to swerve into traffic going east on Parmer. The Yukon then hit a curb and rolled over several times.

No other cars or people were involved.

The man, described as white, died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt. Officer Bremner says several cars stopped to help. Those drivers were interviewed by police.

Due to pieces of debris being in the roadway, police had to shut down the eastbound lanes of Parmer Lane from SH 130 to U.S. 290 while they investigated the accident.

The identity of the man has not been released pending family notification.

If you have information you are asked to call police at (512) 974-5232. This is Austin's 16th fatal traffic crash of 2013.
