AUSTIN --- Moans and groans filled Nelo’s Cycling Shop in Northwest Austin Thursday evening during a watch party of Lance Armstrong’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The locally owned bicycle shop with one of Armstrong’s signed yellow jerseys and his poster on the wall served beer and pizza to a packed house who came to see the words come out of Armstrong's mouth.
The crowd reacted audibly when Winfrey asked Lance if he took performance enhancing drugs for each of his seven Tour de France victories.
“I think a lot of it was he got to this point and thought he was untouchable and a lot of ego was involved," said Austin cyclist Jennifer Grosz.
“I'm not really surprised at what he had to say. I don't put a lot of stock in what the guy has to say anymore at this point,” said Marc Coppedge with TeamYachtClub.
“It's hard to trust him. How can we trust that he's telling the truth now because he's lied for so long so this is just another lie,” said Austin cyclist Gary Obernolte.
Nelo’s was filled not only with cyclists but journalists from all over the world including France, London, and Denmark.
Nelo’s is planning another watch party Friday for the second part of Armstrong’s interview.
