AUSTIN -- The Fall semester at the University of Texas begins on Wednesday. University officials estimate approximately 51,000 students are enrolled for the semester.

Many started moving in and getting settled over the weekend. Tuesday night the campus welcomed all new students with the annual Gone to Texas rally. It gives the incoming freshmen a glimpse at Longhorn traditions.

Wednesday evening UT will host another welcome rally. ‘The Big Yell!’ runs from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is followed by the Texas Football Town Hall Meeting at DKR Stadium where students will meet with head football coach Mack Brown.

College students will be getting a lot of tips and advice. The Central Texas Better Business Bureau released a warning for students on identity theft. According to the BBB, adults 20 to 29 years old are the most at risk for ID theft.

In 2012 more than 57,000 reported being victims.

The BBB released a list of tips:

  • Secure your mail
  • Store safely
  • Safeguard your information
  • Check your statements frequently
  • Check your credit report once a year
  • Consider identity theft protection
