AUSTIN -- A man is in the hospital after getting pinned by a car that crashed into a Southeast Austin laundromat.
The incident happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday on East Oltorf Street near Burleson Road when a driver, 21-year-old Magan Garcia, plowed through the walls of the Kwik Wash Laundry.
An employee was mopping the floor when the car barreled through the window and pinned him against one of the machines.
Maintenance Manager Kai Joe says the employee and his wife were the only ones inside at the time.
"Usually his whole family is in here -- him, his wife and his kids. I think, luckily, his kids weren't in the way," said Joe.
Joe says the employee might have lost both of his legs in the incident. Austin police say the victim's injuries are life-threatening. His condition is unknown.
Joe says the store needs extensive repairs, but that's the least of his worries.
"Don't drink and drive. It ruined two lives -- hers and his," he said.
Officials arrested Garcia and have charged her with intoxication assault. The Travis County District Attorney's Office confirms Garcia was already on probation for DWI. She was arrested July 3, 2012.
