2 wounded, 2 arrested after gunfire in Burnet

BURNET, Texas -- The Burnet Police Department have arrested two men after a pair of shootings injured two people.

Matthew Nicholas Basquez, 17, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence. Jack Dilon Dickison, 20, was arrested for tampering with evidence. A third suspect, who was injured in one of the shootings, could also face charges.

According to Burnet police, the shootings took place around 10 p.m. Sunday about a mile and a half from each other, at an apartment complex and near a hotel.

One victim was taken to a local hospital and faces surgery. A second victim was treated and released to police custody.

Police Chief Paul Nelson says the shootings were isolated and the public was never in danger.

The Burnet County Sheriff's Office, Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers helped with the investigation.
