AUSTIN -- Small business Saturday came too late for one Austin business struggling to stay afloat.

Cheapo Records off Lamar and 10th in South Austin is closing after 15 years in business.

William Long, who works at the store, says "If anything we have to thank everybody in Austin for keeping us afloat this long you know".

He and four others will be out of a job due to rising rent costs and lower sales revenue.

Recent times have made it difficult for the store to compete with discounted and free music downloads available online.

Long time customer Rachel Peters says her love for punk rock hasn't changed but soon she'll have to find a new place to shop for her favorite music. "It's really sad, it breaks my heart," she said.

Cheapo will offer its inventory with major discounts until everything is gone.

Their official last day is December 23rd but they hope to eventually reopen at another location.
