AUSTIN -- A new Austin audit finds hotels are still not paying the right amount in taxes to the city.
All five hotels in this latest audit failed to pay the proper amount. In all shorting they City more than $177,000.
This is an ongoing issue. Two years ago, KVUE reported the majority of hotels were not paying proper taxes. Since 2005, audits have uncovered hotels shorting the city at least $2 million.
The City auditor's office is now reaching out to these latest hotels to collect the money owed.
