AUSTIN -- Police have released the name of the woman killed in an accident involving an SUV and an 18-wheeler truck, where four children and a man were also injured.
Around 8 p.m. Sunday police say an 18-wheeler and an SUV collided on U.S. Highway 183 near U.S. 290 in Northwest Austin. They say the semi-truck was traveling west on the U.S. 290 service road when the SUV turned left onto the U.S. service road in front of it. The SUV was then pushed onto a curb and pinned against a light pole.
Police say Belinda Cisneros, 28, was riding in the passenger seat of the SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man driving and four children in the SUV were taken to local hospitals. Officers say their injuries are minor.
The driver of the 18-wheeler wasn't injured. The accident shut down all lanes of the highway in the area, but they have since reopened.
This is Austin's 71st traffic fatality of the year. At this time in 2011, there were 48 traffic fatalities.
