Wind Advisory in effect for area; freeze on its way

AUSTIN -- High winds are hitting the Austin area, and a cold front will bring a freeze Thursday night.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Austin area until around 3 p.m. Thursday. Winds are expected to reach 40 miles-per-hour.

Highs will be in the upper 50s Thursday with sunny skies.

A hard freeze is expected for Thursday night, which will bring low temperatures of 27 degrees to Austin. Parts of the Hill Country could see temperatures below 20 degrees.

Temperatures will warm up to the 60s and 70s over the weekend. For Christmas the low is 51 degrees and the high will be 68.
