Not only did a clerk at a cash advance store in Indianapolis turn the other cheek when a man tried to rob her, she prayed with him.
It was all caught on a security camera yesterday.
Sergeant Kevin Wethington says the suspect, 23-year-old Gregory Smith, turned himself in this morning after his mother saw the video on television.
“I've been an investigator for three years now and I've never seen anything like this on a case I've investigated. Especially one where the robber reaches out to hug the victim and then the victim later on hugs the suspect. Very unusual," he said.
Police say when the suspect pulled the gun, the clerk started crying and talking to him about God.
That's when Smith broke down and asked her to pray with him, taking the bullet out of the gun.
He had the clerk go into the restroom and allegedly took a twenty-dollar bill from the cash register before leaving.
Smith faces a preliminary charge of robbery.
