HOUSTON -- A 10-foot-long alligator that apparently crawled from a bayou and onto an Interstate 10 service road in Houston would not budge and had to be euthanized by a game warden.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Maj. William Skeen says the alligator discovered early Thursday "was too big to move, too dangerous."
Police spokeswoman Jodi Silva says officers responded to a call about a large alligator on a road. Video of the creature showed several Houston police squad cars were used to form a barrier around the gator.
Skeen told The Associated Press that a game warden was injured about month ago, suffering a broken nose and losing some teeth, while trying to move a large alligator. The animal in that case also had to be shot and killed.
