AUSTIN -- The Austin Animal Center is hosting a special pet adoption event over Labor Day weekend.
From Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, the AAC is offering an adoption special of $35 for American dog and cat breeds. AAC officials say each pet is spayed or neutered and has a microchip and vaccinations.
“We’re just about to celebrate the Labor Day weekend and our shelters are full,” said Abigail Smith, Chief Animal Services Officer. “What’s interesting is that so many of the pets stuck at the shelter are classic ‘working’ breeds and types – versatile, athletic, hardy, loyal, low-maintenance, hard workers that like to have a ‘job’ to do.
The center is located at 7201 Levander Loop. The City's overflow kennel is at 1156 West Cesar Chavez. Both places are open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
