Are you looking to bring another animal into your family? This Saturday, March 31st, is the perfect opportunity. The Austin Humane Society will have more than 200 animals of all ages available for free to loving homes, including over 40 puppies.
The cats, dogs, puppies and kittens are available at the Austin Humane Society from 12 noon to 7 p.m. All animals have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and come with a free collar and engraved ID tag, 30 days of pet health insurance and a free leash and bag holder for all dogs.
To make the process smoother, AHS asks that you please:
- Arrive early, large crowds are expected
- Bring a cat carrier or $5 to purchase one if you plan to adopt a cat or kitten
- Follow the signs to park at the church behind the shelter
- And please do not bring your own pets
Animal homelessness remains a large problem in Austin. The city's animal shelter has been over capacity for the last several months. The Humane Society says community support is needed for Austin to maintain its 90% ‘no kill’ live release rate.
The Austin Humane Society is part of 226 shelters participating in ASPCA's Mega Match-A-Thon adoption events being held nationwide this weekend.
