TAIWAN, China -- A giant panda born in the Xinhua/Taipei Zoo in southeast China’s city of Taiwan met his mother for the first time last week.
Yuan Zai, born on July 6, 2013 met his mother Yuan Yuan last Tuesday.
In a video released on Wednesday by the Xinhua/Taipei Zoo, Yuan Yuan can be seen picking up her cub and holding her close.
Yuan Zai’s parents, Yuan Yuan and Tuan Tuan were presented to Taiwan as goodwill gifts by Chinese mainland in 2008, according to the zoo’s website.
Zookeepers separated baby and mother last month fearing she may harm the tiny cub but reunited the pair on August, 6.
The zoo also released photos of both baby and mother. In one photo, Yuan Yuan can be seen holding Yuan Zai.
Yuan Zai is the couple’s first baby.
