ST.LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV)—The Saint Louis Zoo is opening a new exhibit that allows visitors to get an up-close look at the 11 new sea lions in their habitat.

The Sea Lion Exhibit, the first of its kind in North America, will open on June 30, allowing visitors to experience ‘nose-to-nose’  interactions with 11 California sea lions as they swim around them.

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Family Sea Lion Landing features a 35-foot–long viewing tunnel which gives an in-depth look at the sea lions and the landscape habitat they swim in. The large year-round outdoor pool and habitat will allow plenty of areas for the mammals to sun bath, train and eat. The landing also includes an expansive window making it possible to watch the sea lions in their natural habitat. This is a first for the Saint Louis Zoo.

The Lichtenstein Sea Lion Arena will feature an 811-seat amphitheater where guests can watch sea lions swim, flip, perform balancing acts and other demonstrations in three daily shows. The performances begin on June 30 and cost $4 a show.

According to the Saint Louis Zoo, a harbor seal will join the sea lions in late summer.
