SAN MARCOS -- A bobcat that had been prowling around San Marcos for the past week has been captured and released, according to a press released from the city.
Animal control officers first learned of the animal on April 5 when residents reported seeing it in a yard on Lisa Lane. However, the elusive cat managed to escape from animal control officer Usbaldo Patino.
On Thursday -- a week after the original sighting -- Patino got another chance to capture the animal after employees at the Frost Bank on Wonder World Drive reported the cat in a nearby tree. He successfully and safely captured the animal with a pole snare.
After consulting with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, San Marcos Animal Control released the bobcat into a remote part of the city's green spaces.
