ASHEBORO, N.C. (AP) -- A gorilla at the North Carolina Zoo is pregnant, a rarity for the animals when they're kept in captivity.
Zoo officials said Wednesday that 11-year-old Jamani is more than 5 months pregnant and is due between July 23 and Aug. 27.
The dad is 19-year-old Nkosi.
The zoo posted video of an ultrasound on its Facebook page.
It's only the second time in the zoo's history that a gorilla has been pregnant and it's the first time in 22 years. Kwanza was born in 1989 and is now at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.
The gorillas remain on exhibit at the zoo's Forest Glade exhibit.
