WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The FBI says Aaron Alexis was under the "delusional belief that he was being controlled or influenced by electro-magnetic waves" when he went on a deadly shooting rampage at the Washington Navy Yard.
Alarming video of Alexis has been released. In it you can see him running through the hallways with a sawed-off shotgun.
Alexis killed 12 people and wounded several others. The FBI says he acted alone and there was no evidence of him targeting particular people.
The investigation indicates that Alexis was "prepared to die during the attack."
The FBI also says phrases were scrawled onto Alexis' shotgun. They read "End to the torment," "Not what y'all say," and "Better off this way."
The FBI says Alexis also wrote "My ELF weapon," which is believed to be a reference to electro-magnetic waves.
