AUSTIN -- A UT law student claims to have successfully fired the first handgun made of plastic on a 3D printer.

Cody Wilson, 25, is seen firing the gun in this video posted to YouTube Monday. Wilson says he fired the handgun this weekend in Central Texas.

Crews from both the BBC and Forbes documented the test-fire.

The development ventures into uncharted legal territory as the law enforcement community grapples with the legality of unlicensed gun manufacturing for anyone with access to a 3D printer that costs around $8000.
