AUSTIN -- Thieves targeted SXSW overnight Thursday. Austin police are looking for stolen band equipment.
The members of band 'Pillage and Plunder' say around 7:15 a.m. Thursday they noticed someone cut the lock on their music trailer. The thieves got away with approximately $16,000 worth of equipment and instruments.
"You don't take a carpenter's tool, you don't take an artist's paintbrush, that's just heinous," said Drummer Noah Kess.
Another local band let the Atlanta-based group borrow their equipment for their final gig on West Campus.
"It almost outweighs all that we lost to see the people come out of the woodwork offering to help us," said Kess.
Kess says the band has been working to build up their inventory for 10 years but now they will look at this as an opportunity to "start fresh."
Austin police are looking through pawn shops for the stolen equipment. If you have any information, call Austin police.
