BARRE, Vermont -- A high school student in Vermont is poised to set a new world record.
After finishing a test in school early, 16-year-old Jeffrey White strung a small chain of clamped staples together. He later found that the world's longest chain of staples is only 422 feet, made by a man in Bangladesh.
White bought $5 worth of staples and three months later, his creation measures more than 750 feet. That's longer than three Boeing 747 airplanes placed end to end.
White is now in the process of filing paperwork with Guiness to validate his world record.
