AUSTIN -- Police still have no leads in the fatal hit and run of an 8-year-old boy in December.

A reward is now being offered to anyone who can help Texas Department of Public Safety investigators track down the hit and run driver that killed Yuhir Vidal as he stood outside the family car in east Travis County around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 7.

Police say Nidal's family had just been involved in a crash on Highway 183 when another vehicle hit him and drove away.

Investigators say icy conditions played a role in both crashes.

Now Nidal's family is hoping someone will remember something to help them find that driver.

"He just prays to find that person and his son is not here no more," said Alma Lara, a family friend. "That won’t make him bring him back again, but it will be a lot of help finding that person."

Anyone with information is asked to call Capital Area Crime Stoppers at (512) 472-TIPS.
