AUSTIN -- Hundreds lined Congress Avenue to catch the annual Republic of Texas Rally in Austin.

Police shut down 20 blocks downtown for the event.

"It's lots of fun. It's just a great atmosphere," said Carolyn Reininger.

The events bring in thousands of visitors to Austin to enjoy restaurants, bars and bike shops.

"It's the largest motorcycle rally in the world," said Dean Groh.

So many people in one place can prove challenging for police. They're reminding drivers and pedestrians to use caution.

Bikers tell us this is one of the safest rallies of this kind they attend all year.

Everyone agrees on one thing, it's noisy.

"Oh, it's pretty loud," said Jack Cee.

"It's loud. Very loud!" said Carolyn Reininger.

Police will enforce no tolerance all weekend for drunk drivers from Friday until Sunday at 5 a.m.
