TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas - A deadly crash in Western Travis County has some neighbors speaking out. They say the intersection near their home is dangerous and could soon get a lot worse.
Sunday evening a 2 vehicle collision killed 1 person and injured 3 others at the intersection of SH 71 and Vail Divide. People who live in this community say it's something they see all too often.
As the sun sets over Bee Cave, drivers see an all too familiar sight.
"As we were coming home, coming over the hill, here we are with the lights and sirens, at it again," said Falconhead West homeowner Robert Lerma.
Lerma and his neighbors say Western Travis County has grown quickly over the past couple of years and the traffic has too.
"We pretty much hear on a weekly basis, sometimes daily, ambulances and police cars going up and down," he described.
With talk of a new car dealership going in down the road they worry it will only get worse. Many homeowners have signs up in the front yard that read "No Covert Car Dealership in Bee Cave," hoping to stop the dealership from building in a spot they believe is already dangerous.
"You have an increase in traffic, you have the signals that kind of, are at the top of a hill, traffic is coming east and west," Lerma said.
Neighbors like Lerma say they hope changes will be made on this road because Sunday's deadly crash is one too many.
Some residents say they are planning a protest at the Bee Cave city council meeting, hoping plans for the car dealership will not move forward.
