At a Sunday morning sprint clinic at St. Michael's academy, a special guest is there to speak to athletes, parents and coaches -- former world champion track and field athlete Marion Jones.
"I've been traveling around the country speaking to high schoolers, middle schoolers about the importance of stepping back and taking a break when you're encountering tough decisions in your life, to think things through, Jones said. "It's really what you do after you make your mistake, how you help the community, how you help the lives of young people. Ultimately I hope that's what people remember me by."
"The hard work she put into going to the Olympics and all that stuff, I'm totally looking to dedicate my time to doing that too," said LBJ High School athlete Marvellous Iheukwumere.
Two years ago, Jones admitted she used steroids before the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics. The International Olympic Committee stripped her of three gold and two bronze medals. She also spent 6 months behind bars.
But this visit isn't just about Jones' passion for track...It's also a chance to bring a positive message to teens about meeting life's challenges.
Now she hopes her story will serve a lesson to these young athletes, and inspire them to keep going, even if they suffer a setback.
"Her story just like influenced me and made me want to think about everything positive I want to do for track and school," said McCallum High School athlete Michelle Gordon.
