Large sand sculpture raising funds for HS graduation celebration

LEANDER, Texas -- The generosity of an artist will help the senior class of Rouse High School in the Leander school district have a safe graduation.

The finishing touches are being crafted on a 14-foot-tall sand sculpture of the school's mascot -- a raider. It was carved by professional sand sculptor John Woodworth.

His daughter is a senior in Rouse High's first graduating class.

Local businesses are buying sponsorships for the sculpture. The logos of some of those businesses on the base of the sculpture. That money will then pay for an organized "safe" celebration after graduation.
