LAKEWAY, Texas -- Investigation continues into the reported sighting of a suspicious person near Lake Travis Elementary School Wednesday resulting in all Lake Travis schools being placed on lockdown.

According to school officials, a Lake Travis ISD parent saw what she thought was a man with a gun near the elementary school.

Law enforcement did a sweep of the schools and gave the "all-clear" just before 4 p.m. The lockdown was lifted shortly after.

“My 15-year-old texted me. She was locked down in the high school. She said it was there so I rushed over there freaking out. I told my dad go pick the babies up thinking everything was fine and then I get to school and find out it's here,” said one panicked parent to KVUE Wednesday.

“I think people these days aren't going to take the chance and rightly so, and we encourage them as a matter of fact anytime they see anything suspicious,” said Marco Alvarado with Lake Travis ISD

A thorough sweep by Lakeway police and the Travis County Sheriff’s Department turned up nothing.

Lakeway police told KVUE that they interviewed the person who made the 911 call about the alleged sighting and the investigation remains active.
