AUSTIN -- The Harlem Globetrotters wrapped up their second game in Austin Friday night for their “You Write the Rules” tour. It’s unlike any game you’ve seen before because fans make the rules, and it’s teaching kids a valuable lesson.
“We’re teaching the kids how to vote real early,” said veteran Globetrotter “Hi-Lite.”
Some of the fan rules include four against one, the four-point shot and playing with two basketballs at one time.
During the game, if kids don't like the rules, they make new ones.
“So if they don't like the rule they previously voted for, they'll change it,” says Hi-Lite. “Sort of like the election process.”
The night begins with a skit that strongly resembles an election night speech, and then the game begins to entertain, teach kids sportsmanship and learn the value of getting involved.
