AUSTIN -     The start of Texas football season is finally here and that means big crowds for those businesses that cash in on the longhorn spirit.

For many Texas football fans it's the most wonderful time of the year.

"It's time to party and watch some football!" said fan Brandon Boyd.

Tailgaters brave the heat to celebrate the start of the season.

"Every year it's always exciting to come out to UT and be a part of the tailgates and go to the football games," Kelly Easley said.

These fans have high hopes.

"I'm looking forward to a 10 win season at least," said UT fan Alex Siegler.

"We are going to take the big 12, beat OU and beat Alabama in the national championship game guaranteed," Boyd said.

"The first game day is always the most anticipated," said Sholz Beer Garden owner Tom Davis.

Sholz sits just 2 blocks from the stadium.

"Its always the loudest, the craziest," Davis said.

Davis said pulling off a successful season means lots of preparation.

"About 6, 7 weeks in we start really talking, we have meetings every other day. Who's going to do this, who's going to do that? How much beer do we have to supply? How much water do we have to supply?" he explained.

The pay off is well worth it.

"We can probably do $80,000 in food and beer after taxes.," Davis claimed.

A proud UT alum himself, Davis says after 17 years at Sholz it's the Texas spirit he enjoys most.

"I enjoy the fans, sometimes they get crazy like everybody else," he said.

With the season underway, these fans are just getting started.

Next weeks game against BYU is in Utah.
