WEST, Texas -- The community of West is struggling to cope with their loss of at least 12 people after Wednesday's fertilizer plant explosion.

Many residents say the toughest part about the whole thing is the unknown. They are wondering about the condition of their homes, as well as family and friends who are unaccounted for.

Authorities are treating it as a crime scene for now. Most of the roads are blocked off as law enforcement continue to search for survivors.

DPS says they hope to get another update on casualty numbers later Friday.

Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn are expected to be in West for a media briefing.
