AUSTIN -- City leaders are focusing on ways to make Austin safer during South by Southwest.

The annual festival continues to grow. Officials say the music portion has high attendance, but the interactive and film sides are growing to record levels. Now City leaders say they want to focus on making downtown and the Entertainment District safer.

Representatives with the City's Transportation Department told KVUE Wednesday that they are considering providing road barricades for the full nine-day event, rather than the standard four days. The barricades used to only cover festivities taking place on the weekend.

The debate now is whether the security measures are worth the cost it will take to provide additional barricades. City leaders will take the decision to a vote in the next few weeks.
