AUSTIN--  Following the nation's shopping spree on "Black Friday" comes "Small Business Saturday."

It's a national campaign to promote local merchants during this busy shopping season, in hopes you'll check them out before ordering on line during "Cyber Monday."

Sherilee Trubitt says she comes into downtown Austin from Dallas to shop the locally owned stores on 2nd Street.

"It's what America is made of. Or should be made of," said Trubitt.

We found her in a store called "Estilo" between Colorado and Lavaca.

Trubitt said, "It's not a chain. It's a boutique and you feel like you're being serviced. "

The part of 2nd Stret, what's known as Willie Nelson Boulevard, may be considered touristy. But, the area is considered 70% local, with at least 10 locally owned stores in two blocks.

Shops line 2nd Street all the way to San Antonio street, where people say they are watching what will develop on an open piece of  land.

Teghan Hahn is the director of sales and merchandising of Austin Rocks at 2nd and Guadalupe.

She says, "This street has been really developing quickly over the last few years."

Her boutique opened just this past March by the same owners of Wild About Music on Congress, which has been around for 21 years.

She says, "We've got lots of really great gifts from a lot of local artists."

And that, "most of our Austin shirts we have artists that design them for us and we print them here in town."

If you want to extend "Small Business Saturday, there are lots of options here.

The Austin Independent Business Association has identified eight different zones of local shopping,  from South First to North Loop.
