AUSTIN -- Less than 6 months after debuting a newer, bigger-space at Antone’s fifth location, owner Frank Hendrix says he wants out.

Hendrix tells KVUE that his heart isn’t in it anymore and he’s not doing the club justice, so he’s selling the iconic business and getting out of the live music industry.

Hendrix is in the process of developing a show about oil in East Texas with the Discovery Channel.

Antone’s has been showcasing live Austin music for nearly 40 years, but it’s only ever had two owners: Clifford and Susan Antone, and now Hendrix.

Ultimately, Hendrix says he wants to sell it to someone who will keep Antone’s the way it is, and/or make it even better.

He says he has discussed, in passing, selling Antone’s to a partner of C3. He sold Emo’s to the same company earlier this year, but Hendrix tells KVUE there are no real negotiations going on yet for Antone’s.
