AUSTIN -- Hundreds of Austin School District elementary students got to help decorate Christmas trees for families in need.
The Omni Hotel Austin at Southpark will donate 10 trees, covered in homemade ornaments by the students, to the city's Neighborhood Community Centers for Charity. The trees are given to underprivileged families in the Austin area who cannot afford a tree this season.
Ten schools and more than 500 elementary school students volunteered to decorate the trees with creations made in class.
The Omni Hotel has sponsored the great Christmas tree event for 12 years. They have given away more than 100 trees through the program.
