FORT WORTH -- Flames destroyed a Southeast Fort Worth church early Friday morning.
Around 5 a.m. a fire broke out at Greater Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in the 4900 block of Calumet.
Firefighters put out the flames and went into the overhaul process shortly after, looking for hot spots that could flare up.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Neighbors say they saw flames shooting through the roof of the church, and it appeared the fire started inside the building.
The church is a total loss, but no injuries have been reported.
Pastor Kenneth Sayles, who grew up in the church, spoke to News 8. He said his congregation will still meet at that very spot Sunday morning.
"We're gonna make it. we're gonna get on the other side of this," Sayles said.
