APD officer sued for excessive force KVUE
AUSTIN -- A Travis County man has filed a lawsuit against an Austin police officer, claiming the officer used excessive force.
Enemencio Roy Alaniz, Jr., 22, says he could hear a family disturbance next door. Alaniz says when police arrived, he watched from the doorway as the people involved in the disturbance were arrested.
Alaniz says at some point during the incident, Officer Jason Cummings ordered him to come out of his house.
Alaniz's attorney Ryan Macleod said when his client refused, Cummings kicked through the screen door and fired his Taser, hitting Alaniz twice and knocking him to the ground.
Macleod said Alaniz injured his hand when he fell and had to have surgery.
The Office of the Police Monitor told KVUE the case has yet to reach their office.
