AUSTIN -- A large group of people broke a Guinness World Record at the Open-Air Rotunda of the Texas State Capitol on Saturday in honor of Dalai Lama's birthday.
On Saturday morning, Ten Thousand Villages of Austin gathered more than 270 people to break the world record of the most people to ring singing bowls simultaneously.
According to their Facebook page, they missed the world record by only 52 last year. This year, they had 278 singing bowls play in unison to break the record.
This was a belated birthday celebration for the 14th Dalai Lama's 79th birthday. His birthday is on July 6.
