AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- A University of Texas student who wrote to the White House about her family's job struggles will introduce President Barack Obama in Austin.
The Austin American-Statesman reports Thursday's honor goes to 20-year-old Kinsey Button of Houston.
The self-proclaimed political buff is a junior public-relations major who shortly after Christmas wrote to Obama about jobs and education.
Button's parents at the time were unemployed. Her father was laid off from an engineering job in Houston and she shared the story about him being over qualified and not able to get a job.
She urged Obama to work with Congress to find a solution. Button also praised the president for supporting programs to educate the children of low-income families.
Button says she might be interested in a political career after college.
